Unleash Your Inner Boldness with Amanda Weldon – #LiveLoudlyBeBold

Amanda Weldon is an accomplished artist and interior stylist whose vibrant and eclectic creations have captivated the community. Her creative journey began with a deep passion for art, nurtured by inspiring teachers and her endlessly supportive family during her formative years. Amanda’s love for interior styling seamlessly intertwines with her artistic prowess, allowing her to craft unique and captivating pieces that play with duality and contrast in texture and color.

Reflecting on her creative roots, Weldon fondly recalls, “I’ve always been really interested in art. I had some really great art teachers during my childhood. Luckily, I was able to stay in contact with many of them.” The profound impact of her teachers laid the foundation for her artistic exploration, enabling her to create art that defies conventional norms. “I’m really drawn to interior design and home stylings,” she explains. “It’s really easy to have those things play with each other. I really love colors and how I can bring art and textures into the design. I love mixing and matching everything. I don’t really follow any rules when it comes to my art or my design.”

While Weldon did not pursue a formal art education in college, her passion for the medium has grown from her early childhood. After completing high school, she sought out extracurricular adult classes to further hone her skills.

She attributes her growth as an artist to the mentorship and support provided by local artists Geri Davis and Rose Ogle. “They have been very nurturing in helping me explore my own creativity and guiding the way to make things my own,” she says. Ogle, Amanda’s first art teacher, embraced their differences in artistic styles and provided unwavering support and guidance both in and beyond the classroom.

Geri Davis played a pivotal role in Weldon’s artistic journey when she moved back to Columbus after living in Opelika for a few years, welcoming her back into the local art community with open arms. “I had moved away from Columbus in 2005 and opened a brick and mortar shop. It was an eclectic mix of vintage items and furniture that I was painting and redoing, but after about 5 years, I realized that art was where I wanted to focus,” she shares. The experience of running her own shop inspired her to transform her art from a beloved hobby into a full-fledged career. “Opening the shop really inspired me to make art an actual career instead of just a hobby that I enjoy. Now, I’m really able to focus on my art and my interior styling without the overhead of a brick and mortar business.”

Colors play a vital role in Amanda’s artistic expression. “I have come to realize that I’m a very visually stimulated person. Even when it comes to learning things, I need to see it, not just hear it. I feel like colors just give life to everything, and I know it’s what I like to be surrounded by.” Her artistic journey continues to be fueled by her deep connection to colors and textures, which allow her to break free from limitations and create pieces that are rich with emotion and expression.

Beyond her visual artistry, Weldon also finds fulfillment in interior styling, which she describes as a more word-of-mouth venture at the moment. “I think I do it more for pure enjoyment as opposed to paying the bills. It’s not something I’ve gone super mainstream with, but it’s probably where my true love and interest lie. I’m always willing to work on that, but it’s not necessarily something I’m just offering at the moment. My commissions are open, though, and if you want a painting or a styling consultation, just get in touch with me.”

When it comes to subject matter, Weldon’s favorite pieces involve floral designs and abstracts. “Other than my abstracts, my favorite thing to do is floral pieces. I will venture out and try anything that somebody wants, but if it’s up to me, it’s just an abstract piece with lots of layers or something floral. As far as what drives me to paint, it’s fun and freeing. I get joy out of it, and if someone else gets the same out of it, that’s all you could ask for,” she says.

Apart from her artistic endeavors, Weldon leads a fulfilling personal life. She has been married for 14 years to her wonderful husband, Dusty, who supports her creative pursuits. Together, they share a household filled with art and creativity.

Amanda Weldon’s art is a celebration of colors, textures, and emotions. Whether it’s the vivid abstraction of colors or the graceful elegance of floral creations, her work breathes life into the canvas, painting a story of inspiration, creativity, and unwavering passion.

Columbus is privileged to have an artist of such caliber, enriching the community with a kaleidoscope of colors and artistic brilliance. With her passion for art and unwavering dedication to her craft, Weldon continues to enrich the artistic landscape of the community she calls home. As she explores new creative frontiers, her unique style and boundless creativity promise to inspire and delight for years to come.
